This time of the year can be very difficult for many and can lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). “SAD is a type of depression that’s related to changes in seasons — seasonal affective disorder (SAD) begins and ends at about the same times every year.” (Mayo Clinic) In general, most people start experiencing these symptoms in the fall and continue to experience them through the winter months.
Signs and symptoms of may include:
• Feeling sad or down
• Losing interest in activities you once enjoyed
• Having low energy
• Sleeping too much
• Experiencing carbohydrate cravings, overeating and weight gain
• Having difficulty concentrating
• Feeling hopeless, worthless or guilty
• Having thoughts of not wanting to live
It can be normal to have days when you feel down, although feeling down for days with low
